The house rules

Terms of Use

Version 1.0 · Effective 26 August 2026

Larking puts you face to face with strangers, live. That only works if everyone knows what is expected of them. This page is the agreement between you and us — plain language, no filler. By creating an account you accept it.

Who we are

Larking is a live video meetup service operated by the Larking team at golarking.com. Where these terms say "we", "us" or "Larking", that is who we mean. Where they say "you", they mean the person using the account.

Questions, complaints, safety concerns, legal notices — all of it reaches a person at hello@golarking.com. We are a small team, and we do our best to read everything that arrives.

Who can use Larking

  • You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth when you set up your profile and we reject anything under 18. No exceptions, no waiting rooms for people who are nearly there.
  • One account per person. Multiple accounts, shared accounts, or an account you run on behalf of someone else are all grounds for removal.
  • Your information must be accurate. Your name, your age, your photos: they should be true and they should be of you. Members decide in seconds whether to talk to you — they are deciding based on what you told them.
  • You need an invite, for now. Larking is an invite-only pilot. Access comes through an invite link from an existing member or from us, and we can limit or withdraw pilot access while we are still growing carefully.

If we have previously removed your account, you may not come back under a new one.

What Larking is

Larking runs scheduled events called Drops. When a Drop goes live you check in, browse people who are online at that exact moment, and swipe yes or no. When two people say yes to each other, a video call starts between them right away.

Declines are anonymous throughout. If you pass on someone, or step away from a match, they are never told.

Drops are scheduled, and outside a Drop there is nothing live to join. We may change the schedule, add or remove features, pause the service for maintenance, or end the pilot. We will try to give notice when a change matters to you, but we cannot promise that Larking will be available at any particular moment.

Community rules

These are the rules with teeth. Breaking them is grounds for losing your account.

NSFW (Not Suitable For Work) content is disallowed on every call by default — nudity, sexual acts, sexual content of any kind, on camera or in your photos. Sharing NSFW content on a call where it is disallowed is a one-strike rule: a single confirmed report of explicit content is grounds for permanent removal of your account.

Every member of Larking is an adult. When both adults on a call have turned NSFW Mode on for themselves, they accept what that means: ordinary adult content between consenting adults — nudity, sexual content, adult language — is understood and cannot be reported on that call. Every other community rule still applies in full on every call, NSFW or not: harassment, hate, threats, recording, anything involving minors, and everything else on this page remains reportable, always.

NSFW Mode lives in your profile settings and is off until you turn it on. It never applies on its own: a call carries that understanding only when both members have it on, so a member who has never touched the setting will never be shown NSFW content by anyone following these rules.

You are told which kind of call you are in. Every call shows all participants a corner badge with the call's NSFW status, and members who have NSFW Mode on additionally see the status before they join, on the reveal screen. Some Drops disallow NSFW entirely — in those, NSFW content is disallowed on every call no matter what either member has enabled.

  • Be a decent person on camera. You are meeting a stranger who agreed to meet you. Treat them the way you would want the next person to treat you.
  • No harassment, hate or threats. No slurs or attacks on who someone is, no sexual harassment, no threats of violence, no following someone from Drop to Drop after they have passed on you.
  • No recording or screenshotting other people. Do not record, screenshot, stream or re-publish another member, their video, their photos or their profile. People came here for a live conversation, not to end up in your content.
  • No impersonation or fake accounts. Do not present yourself as someone else, use someone else's photos, or run bot, scam or promotional accounts. No soliciting money, no sending people off-platform to be sold something.
  • No minors, ever. Anyone under 18 on Larking, in any capacity — as an account holder, on camera, or in a photo — is grounds for immediate removal. If you believe someone here is a minor, report them straight away.
  • No illegal activity. Nothing that would be a crime where you are, and nothing that puts another member at risk.
  • Use the report tools. There is a report button inside every call and again on the screen right after it. Reporting is the fastest way to get a moderator looking at someone. It is not tattling — it is how this stays safe for the people after you.

Your content

Your photos, your bio and everything else you put on your profile stay yours. We do not claim ownership of them.

What we do need is permission to run the service with them: you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, resize, display and transmit your content for the purpose of operating Larking — which in practice means showing your profile card to other members during a Drop, and carrying your video and audio to the person you matched with. That licence exists only to run the service, it is not a licence to sell or advertise with your face, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for what you upload — you must have the right to use it, and it must follow the community rules. We can remove any content that breaks them, and we can do so without warning where safety is involved.

Feedback and moderation

After every call you are asked how it went — a quick vibe rating and an optional comment. On calls where NSFW is disallowed you are also asked whether the other person showed explicit content; on a call where both members have NSFW Mode on, that question is not asked.

That feedback is anonymous between members. It is never shown to the person you talked to, never shown on anyone's profile, and never used to tell someone who passed on them or who rated them what. Nobody on Larking sees a rejection.

It is not anonymous to us. Our moderators can see interaction records — who matched with whom, how long calls lasted, and the reports and feedback attached to an account — and they use them to investigate reports and enforce these rules. That is the trade: anonymous between members, visible to the people whose job is keeping the place safe.

We may also apply automated content moderation to calls. Reports from members and review by moderators are how these rules are enforced.

Enforcement

Reports and moderation signals attach to your account as flags, and flags stay active for 90 days. What happens next depends on what you did:

  • A warning. Three active flags on your account is grounds for a formal warning by email. Consider it the only one you get.
  • Temporary restrictions. We may keep you out of Drops, hide your profile from queues or hold your account while we look into a report.
  • A permanent ban. Serious or repeated breaches are grounds for a permanent ban. A banned account cannot check in to Drops, cannot be matched, and cannot be replaced with a new one.
  • One strike, for some things. Explicit content on a call where NSFW is disallowed, any involvement of a minor, threats of violence, and impersonation for fraud are grounds for removal on the first confirmed instance. There is no warning step for these.

These decisions are ours to make, at our discretion, made with the safety of the people here in mind. If you think we got it wrong, write to hello@golarking.com and ask us to take another look.

Filing deliberately false reports is itself a breach of these rules.

Ending your account

You can leave whenever you want. Settings › Account › Delete account, confirm with your password, and the account is gone — there is no cooling-off period and no reactivation.

Deletion is permanent and it takes your data with it: your profile and photos, your tags and preferences, your check-ins and matches, your call records, the feedback you left and the reports you filed. Copies may survive for a short while in routine backups before those roll over, and we may keep a minimal record where the law requires it or where it is needed to keep a banned person out.

We can also end your account — for a breach of these rules, or if we shut the service down. If we close the pilot we will try to give notice before your data goes.

What we do not promise

You are meeting strangers. Use your judgement. Everyone on Larking is a stranger until you talk to them. Do not share your address, your finances or documents that identify you, be careful about meeting anyone in person, and if a conversation feels wrong, end the call and report it — the buttons are right there.

We do not vet members. We do not run background checks, identity checks or criminal record checks. The invite system, our moderation and your reports are what we have, and none of them is a guarantee that the person in front of you is who or what they say they are.

Larking is provided as-is and as-available. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, that calls will connect, that moderation will catch everything, or that you will meet anyone you like.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for what other members do, for anything that happens between you and someone you met here, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — and some places give you rights that no set of terms can sign away, which you keep.

Changes to these terms

These terms will change as Larking does. Every version has a number, and the one you are reading is version 1.0.

When we make a material change we bump that number. The next time you open Larking you will be shown the new terms and asked to agree before you can carry on — this is not a banner you can scroll past, it is a gate. If you would rather not agree, you can delete your account instead.

Small corrections that do not change your rights — a typo, a clearer sentence — we make without a new version.
